Start Writing Your Novel Now
A 5-week fiction workshop. Start your novel with an instructor who understands what it’s like to write a novel for the first time.

Ines Rodrigues enrolled in a Beginner Novel Writing course at the Writing Institute 11 years ago with only an idea for her first book. Over the following years, with the help of talented mentors, she wrote the historical fiction "Days of Bossa Nova" and learned how to reach out for editors and agents, until she finally got it published in 2017. She knows every step of the journey and she will help you write your book.

Ines’s five-week course is a well-balanced mix of workshop, craft lessons and lots of encouragement. Each writer gets an equal amount of time dedicated to his or her work, with comments from the instructor and peers.

Craft lessons are focused on the most important instruments in a novelist’s toolbox: structure, characterization, point of view etc. Each lesson is followed by specific prompts to practice and help students to understand and apply the writing techniques. Make this year the year you write your novel!

June 3 to July 1, 2024
Mondays 1:00pm to 3:00pm EST on Zoom

Who Should Take This Class?

Testimonials
“I have taken three intermediate creative writing courses with Ines Rodrigues and what I learned in her class was invaluable. It gave me the building blocks to write four mystery books, all of which have been published.” ~ Ellen Shapiro, author of “Looking for Laura”, “Secrets Can Kill”, “Missing or Dead” and "Memory of Murder".

“Ines' workshops and insights always lead me in fruitful directions as I work to finish my novel. Inspiring, pragmatic and forward moving...all the feedback is so meaningful from both Ines and my writing comrades.” ~ Nancy Pawlyshyn, MD, Phd, professor, researcher and author.

“I’ve been in several of Ines’s classes where she offered great advice about my plot, characters, setting, and pacing. Most of all, her warm enthusiasm encouraged me to develop self-confidence as a novice writer.” ~ Robert Sickles, novel writing student.
