Playing with Point of View
A 5-week workshop. When we sit down to write, we're making a million decisions, and many of them are intuitive. But deciding between first person, second person, third person, close third, and multiple points of view, is paramount to a story's possibilities... and its limitations. What choices do you have when crafting a story, and what are the implications of said choices? In this class, inspired by the late James Moffett's classic anthology Points of View, we'll read short stories, one per week, each written from a different perspective. Writers will take a crack at approaching their own stories using these different narrative tools. This class is designed to be a generative space where risks are taken and pages pile up.
