Building Your Author Website 
This is a one-session workshop to help writers create their own professional and cost-effective website. While social media platforms are great for marketing, they are narrow and inflexible, prohibiting writers from being able to truly showcase themselves. Fortunately, making your own website is easier (and cheaper!) than ever, so that anyone of average tech-savviness can create a place to which they can confidently direct interested parties. Chris will walk step-by-step through the essentials of building a personal website in Squarespace, a very simple web-hosting and building platform. 

Note: Starting a website in Squarespace is free, but making it visible to the public requires a subscription fee of ~$13/month, which is not included in the cost of the course. Chris is a Squarespace Circle preferred developer, so writers who create their sites through this course will receive an additional discount off their Squarespace plan.

Any writer looking to gain someone's attention—be it an agent, editor, publicist, buyer at a bookstore, or a general reader—would benefit from a clear, simple, and attractive website that showcases their work and qualifications. You only need an Internet-enabled Mac or PC and the desire to be found online.
