One Day Generative Workshop: Experimental Story Structure

« back to classes page
CourseGraphic When we think about long form stories, we often conceive of them in a linear fashion. There is a definite beginning, middle, and end. But what happens when we mess with that structure? What happens when we introduce fractures or explosions to our structures? We will look at short narratives, both fiction and nonfiction, to see how published authors utilize a non-linear form to tell their story. We will look at fragmented narratives, list stories, hermit crabs, and more. Students will have opportunities to put these story shapes into use with multiple prompts and exercises throughout the class. As always, students will be welcomed to share and receive light feedback during class. This will be a writing intensive class!

Who should take this class?
Perfect for new writers, those looking to experiment with their work, and anyone who enjoys playing on the page.
